Roadster Republic 2026: Malaysia’s Largest MX-5 Gathering Comes to Life
More than 200 Mazda MX-5s gathered under one atmosphere, from the timeless NA to the latest ND. Owners, enthusiasts, families, pets, media personalities, and first-time visitors came together to celebrate one thing: the joy of driving. With positive vibes, exclusive goodies, unique builds, and unforgettable community moments, Roadster Republic proved that the MX-5 spirit in Malaysia is stronger than ever.
A Gathering of Every Generation
From pop-up headlights to modern RF fastbacks, the event showcased every generation of the Mazda MX-5 — NA, NB, NC, and ND — parked side-by-side in a rare sight for Malaysian enthusiasts.
More than just a car meet, Roadster Republic became a living timeline of the MX-5 legacy. Owners travelled from different states, each bringing their own personality, modifications, and stories behind their roadsters.
Families, couples, and even pets joined the event, creating a welcoming atmosphere rarely seen in modern automotive gatherings.
More Than Cars, It’s a Community
One of the strongest highlights of the event was the atmosphere itself. Friendly conversations, spontaneous photoshoots, owners helping each other park, and strangers instantly bonding over their love for lightweight sports cars made the gathering feel genuinely special.
Visitors also received event goodies while enjoying coffee, conversations, and endless rows of roadsters under one venue.
Roadster Republic wasn’t about showing off horsepower figures — it was about sharing passion.

🌅 Community Vibes
A casual meet focused on passion, stories, and meeting fellow roadster owners.
Familiar Faces from the Automotive Industry
150+ Mazda MX-5s gathering for a morning of cars, coffee, photography, and conversations with the roadster community.

YS Khong Joined the Gathering as an Enthusiast
YS Khong, the 5-time Malaysian Rally Champion known for his professional car reviews, driving tips, and automotive knowledge, was spotted enjoying the event personally as both an enthusiast and MX-5 owner.
Seeing one of Malaysia’s most respected automotive personalities casually mingling with owners reflected the welcoming and humble spirit of the MX-5 community.
Ivan Choy from AutoMachi Was Here Too
Ivan Choy Ewi Liang from AutoMachi also attended the event, spending time with owners and exploring the different builds showcased throughout the gathering.
The presence of local automotive media personalities further highlighted how Roadster Republic has become one of the most anticipated enthusiast gatherings in Malaysia.
iGarage’s Soon Meng Sim Joined the Celebration
Soon Meng Sim from iGarage was also among the familiar faces spotted during the event, connecting with owners and documenting the growing Malaysian MX-5 culture.
Riwasawaa & the MX-5 Dream
Popular TikTok creator riwasawaa, recently featured by Koocester, also attended the gathering.
Known for calling the Mazda MX-5 her dream car, she perfectly represented what makes the roadster so loved worldwide: “Not the fastest car in the world. Not the fanciest, either. But somehow, it makes every drive feel special.”
Her appearance attracted many younger enthusiasts and first-time visitors who dream of owning an MX-5 someday.
Powered by Vcarbon Auto Repair Services
Roadster Republic was proudly organized together with Vcarbon Auto Repair Services, a well-known workshop within the Malaysian Mazda and MX-5 community.
Known for providing professional consultation, reliable workmanship, and enthusiast-focused service at reasonable pricing, Vcarbon has become a trusted destination for maintenance, tuning, and performance builds, especially among MX-5 owners in the Klang Valley.
Led by Alvin, a respected figure within the local Mazda scene, the workshop continues to support both daily-driven and track-focused builds for enthusiasts across Malaysia.

Malaysia’s Fastest MX-5?
One of the most talked-about cars at the event was the Sepang record-setting Mazda MX-5 ND built by Vcarbon.
The heavily modified roadster achieved an impressive 2:34 lap time at the Sepang International Circuit, making it one of the fastest MX-5 builds in Malaysia.
The build features:
- HKS Supercharger Kit
- Custom track-focused suspension setup by Fawster
- Penrite Oil Malaysia lubrication support
- Extensive performance and cooling upgrades
More than just numbers, the car represented how far the Malaysian MX-5 tuning scene has evolved.
Roadster Republic's Lowest Ride
Another crowd favourite was a striking black widebody MX-5 equipped with a full air suspension setup.
Sitting impossibly low while maintaining aggressive fitment, the build constantly attracted cameras and conversations throughout the day. It perfectly blended stance culture with the playful personality of the MX-5 platform.

Supported by Penrite Oil Malaysia
Penrite Oil Malaysia joined the event as one of the lucky draw sponsors, providing premium automotive products including the event’s first prize giveaway.
The support from automotive brands helped make the gathering even more exciting for participants throughout the day.
Little Moments That Made the Event Memorable
Beyond the rows of roadsters and impressive builds, some of the best memories from Roadster Republic came from the small, unexpected moments throughout the day — the kind of moments that perfectly captured the fun, personality, and welcoming spirit of the MX-5 community.

The Smallest MX-5 Owner
One of the cutest moments came from a girl who placed her miniature toy MX-5 in front of a real roadster for photos.
Maybe she doesn’t own a real MX-5 yet — but judging by the smile on her face, her ownership journey has already begun.
The Rare 100th Anniversary Edition
A rare Mazda MX-5 100th Anniversary Edition also made an appearance at the gathering.
Finished with its signature burgundy roof and anniversary touches, the limited-edition roadster quickly became one of the most photographed cars at the venue.
The Busiest Crew Members
While everyone enjoyed the event, the organizing crew spent the entire day guiding owners, coordinating parking, handling registrations, and keeping the event flow smooth.
Their nonstop effort behind the scenes played a huge role in making the gathering successful.
The Left-Hand Drive Surprise
Among hundreds of roadsters, one particular MX-5 stood out immediately — a rare left-hand-drive example that attracted curious crowds throughout the event.
Ehh: “Is That Really an MX-5?”
One visitor favourite was the Abarth 124 Spider — the Italian cousin sharing the MX-5 chassis and interior foundation.
The car sparked endless conversations among visitors discovering how closely related the two roadsters actually are.
The Cutest Passenger
Two Jellycat plushies sitting quietly inside an MX-5 cupholder unexpectedly became one of the most photographed “companions” of the event.
Small details like this reminded everyone that MX-5 ownership is about personality as much as driving.
The Best Marketing Award
One owner turned his parked MX-5 into a mini marketplace by placing a wheel rim directly on the passenger seat — complete with price and contact number written beside it.
Simple, effective, and impossible to ignore.
Coffee, Cars & Conversations
Roadster Republic also collaborated with Cars & Coffee, bringing together café culture and automotive enthusiasm into one relaxing environment.
With coffee in hand and rows of roadsters parked nearby, the atmosphere felt less like a traditional car meet and more like a weekend gathering among friends.

A New Milestone for Malaysia’s MX-5 Community
Roadster Republic wasn’t simply another automotive event.
With more than 200 MX-5s gathering in one location, the event marked one of the largest Mazda MX-5 gatherings ever seen in Malaysia — a major milestone for the local roadster community.
More importantly, it showed that the MX-5 spirit continues to grow across generations, bringing together people from different backgrounds through a shared love for driving.
And judging by the smiles, revs, and conversations throughout the day, this is only the beginning.
