Meguiar’s Convertible Top Cleaner
Owning a Miata means dealing with a soft top, and over time it picks up dust, stains, and that slightly faded look. This is what I’ve been using to keep the roof looking clean without damaging the material.
Why I Use This
I didn’t want to risk using random cleaners on the soft top — it’s one of those parts that’s easy to ruin if you use the wrong product.
This one is made specifically for convertible tops, so it cleans without being too harsh. I mainly use it to bring back the original look when the fabric starts looking dull or dirty.
How I Use It
I usually rinse the top first, spray this on, then gently brush it with a soft brush before rinsing everything off.
Nothing too aggressive — just a simple routine when I’m washing the car.

Keeping it consistent makes a bigger difference than doing it once in a while.
After Coating
You can wash normallu, but:
- No aggressive brushing.
- Use mild cleaning (or just rinse if not very dirty).
The coating helps repel dirt and water, so you actually don’t need to clean it as often anymore.
If you’re planning to do soft top coating, I highly recommend using this cleaner before coating.
The idea is simple, you want the surface to be fully clean before applying any protection layer. If there’s dirt or oil left, the coating won’t bond properly.
